The Entrepreneur Shadow Programme is a latest collaboration between UOB and UOB-SMU Asia Enterprise Institute. Through the programme, conducted by UOB-SMU AEI, small business owners can tap on talented penultimate and final year undergraduates at the Singapore Management University (SMU) to help them look into areas of improvements for their businesses.
As the word shadow suggests, “Entrepreneur Shadow” refers to following a host (in this case, it will be the SME boss or the top management personnel) closely, like his or her shadow; It will only be applicable to the work context/environment, which include having the students immersed in the day-to-day activities of the host, be it internal, external and social-business engagements.
In order to ensure that the quality of the programme is maintained, a mentor, usually a subject matter expert or an industry practitioner, is appointed to guide the student team in their learning. There will be 2 students in the team. The duration for the programme is about 6 weeks long.
Local enterprises who would like to be involved in the Entrepreneur Shadow Programme and provide opportunities for SMU students to work with them, may apply to do so.

“It was a new experience to work so closely with the students who were shadowing me on the day-to-day operations of my business. Through their feedback and ideas, I gained fresh perspectives and new ideas on how to improve our processes to become more nimble and flexible.”
